April Fools 2006 - Classic CEC Invades Radio Showbiz

In 2006 Radio Showbiz was taken over by "Classic Rat" Chuck E. Cheese, and along with his thuggish Pizza Time Players, decided that they were gonna play whatever the heck they felt like - all month long. I remember getting a lot of mixed feedback on this one. Many people loved the new mixed up playlist, while others thought it went on waaay too long.

In order to hammer in the idea that this was in fact an April Fools joke, the monthly contest prizes for that month were a handful of mixed items that ranged from incredibly cool to dumb as hell. Ok most of them were terrible, with the only decent prize being a 1993 CEC crystal corporate convention golf trophy. The rest included a roll of unused toilet paper, an Uncle Klunk ear, a CEC coupon good ONLY at the Ft. Collins, Colorado location, a $500 gift certificate to Looney Bird's in Louisiana (which was already closed down), and my personal favorite - Limited Edition "Spoon Chuck E" plush. This was a dig at the numerous Limited Edition plushes that CEC has been releasing since 2000, and "Spoon Chuck E" is probably the rarest custom out there, as there's only one in existence (yes, someone out there actually owns this).

As far as the April playlist went - it was pretty wide ranging. Most of the music was my selection, but there were also tracks picked by a handful of community members, our DJ Brian, plus some of my other friends. That month you could hear music from Hilary Duff, Insane Clown Posse, The Beatles, Cowboy Troy, Ace of Base, Disney, Power Rangers, Vanilla Ice, Sifl & Olly, Group X, and a bunch of other bizarre stuff.
