ISSUE #4 - September, 2000 Back to ShowBiz Pizza.com Homepage
Hello! It's September, which means it's time for another installment of the ol' bulletin. I'm proud to announce that since this is the 4th issue, Billy Bob's Bulletin has survived twice as long as it's parent newsletter - "Chuck E.'s Cheezy Newsletter". But at any rate, it's time to get down to business.

There seems to have been some controversy on the message board lately about Chuck E. Cheese, or rather, the Chuck E. Cheese bashing that's been going on. I will admit that I have enjoyed partaking in the bashing as well as others, but I feel that there's some points I should address.
I've been doing some thinking about all this. As I've mentioned before, it's getting harder and harder to keep my oppinions out of the conversations. And I'm sure that others have been feeling the same way - and I don't want anyone to feel that they need to censor their oppinion. Afterall we all have things to say, and the message board on this site is intended for that very purpose.
I think that it's fair to assume that we all have our own prefrence and favorites - either CEC or the Rock-afire Explosion. And yeah, CEC has been the center of alot of critism - which is to be expected. CEC is afterall basically the only survior here. It's kinda pointless to critize the RAE since they've been out of action for so long. I'm almost certain that if the new version of the RAE had taken off, the critism would be flying around left and right, just as it has been with Studio C.
But alas, this is a Chuck E. Cheese fansite as much as it is a Showbiz one. It's kinda neat to think that it's the only fansite on the net right now that's about CEC. So as much as some of us may dislike the rat, he's gonna stay on this website no matter what. And I'll admit that there was a time that I had truly considered making this a pure Showbiz site, but I decided that it would be wrong to do that.

It's not so much that I'd have a personal problem with doing that - it's because of the fans who come here to learn about CEC. I've said it time and again, that I don't build on this site for myself. The hours of hard work and sitting here in front of the screen until my eyes hurt is done for all of the fans out there. Just because corporate CEC may find it acceptable to ignore those who like CEC enough to think of themselves as "fans" doesn't mean that I do. I think that keeping CEC around even though I hate his parent company is a testament to that.
But just because I've decided to keep CEC on this fansite, I don't want it to look as if I'm endorsing CEC because it's not. I've taken extensive measures (with more to come) to see to it that this site focuses on the CEC of the past. I want to help preserve the history of the Pizza Time Theatre and it's many characters that time has forgotten. I just now checked out the official website and found that they finally put in character profiles for the few characters that they have left. Whoopee. What about the 20 or so retired characters? That's where I come in. I'm working to complete the characters pages for that reason. Some of you may have noticed, but I've also converted all the CEC Pizza logos to old PTT logos. A small change, but a step in the right direction.

Costume Shoppe - Appleton, WI
- This great photo is of a store called the "Costume Shoppe" who's recycled the old Showbiz sign. Thanks to Darryl Heine for subbmitting the photo.

So CEC fans can rest easy, no matter what's said on the message board, this place will always be a haven for classic CEC memories. But if you're looking for info about the newer CEC, you'll have to rely on the official site (until someone decides to make another CEC fansite.) I don't feel to bad for criticizing the CEC of today anyway. I like to think of it as them bringing it upon themselves. Like when they do something unneccessary like getting eBay to end auctions of people trying to sell old obsolete Reel to Reel tapes. I mean if you're gonna be a jerk like that, you should expect to be treated like one. We all make our own beds, and then we gotta sleep in them.
Now for the last minute advertising. The one of a kind golf trophy which is featured as the collectable of the month is currently on eBay auction and will be there until 9/15. I also have new CEC and SPP items listed on my sale page so for those interested, be sure to check them out. That's all for this month, be sure to check back here in October!
Until Then, - VegaNova
