Back to ShowBiz Pizza.com Homepage

Hello again. Sorry the Bulletin is so late this month, but it's a special one about some of the things I saw on my recent pilgrimage to Florida. If there's such a thing as the "ShowBiz World", at the moment I feel as though I'm on top of it. Alot of cool stuff happened on my vacation, and most of it dealt with the Rock-afire Explosion in one way or another. I'll try to limit my talk to only ShowBiz related parts of my trip, so everyone sit back and enjoy.

Every road trip I've been on has had hang-ups and the occasional stroke of bad luck, and this trip was no different. After picking up one of my friends and stopping awhile to visit another, out first stop was Billy Bob's Pizzs Circus in Conyers, Georgia. Now I'm not rocket scientist, but I assumed that since a place was called "Billy Bob's" it would have Billy Bob in it. But it didn't. I guess that's what I get for assuming. We went in only to find an arcade, a skating rink, and a few paintings of Billy Bob on the walls - proof that something had been there once upon a time. When my girlfriend asked the lady wokring behind the counter where the robots were she got bitched at. The lady was incredibly rude, telling us that the robots were removed about 8 or 9 months ago because the company that makes them "went bankrupt". Then she rudely began asking us why we cared and what business we had being there. Nedless to say, we all left there bent out of shape and angry. But being the nice, civilized person I am, I decided to dump all of our trash in their parking lot as a going away present. Jerks.

Our next major stop was going to be Adventure Landing in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. When we arrived there, we at first thought the place had been closed down. But once we drove around the parking lot, we saw that it was open - there was just hardly anyone there. It because apparent once we got inside why this amusement park was practically empty. It sucks.

Pirate Rolfe DeWolfe

Pirate Rolfe
  • This is a photo I took of (a broken-down) Rolfe from Adventure Landing in Florida.

But they did have the Rock-afire show, all dressed up like pirates and the show had the most bizarre setup I'd ever seen. The center stage was normal, Rolfe and Earl were stuffed inside the wall to the left with no curtain, and Billy Bob's stage was a good 15 feet in the air above the food counter and he also had no curtain. So we snapped some photos and shot some video. An employee walked by and we asked him when the show was going to come on. He wasn't sure so he went to ask. When he came back he told us that the "bears are on vacation" and appologized to us. We asked him if we could go into the stage to take some pictures. He told us that he couldn't give us permission, but once he turned his back we could do anything we wanted and he wouldn't say anything. So we snapped a few more pictures and then headed down to the beach for awhile before the sun went down.

And then at the beach I accidentally dropped my new $300 video camera in the ocean. Mind you that Billy Bob's, Adventure Landing, and the camera incident all happened in the course of one day. So far the trip was looking to be like one big dissapointment and my spirit was down in the gutter. But our next stop was to be Creative Engineering. That visit deserves an entire Bulletin to itself so check back next week if you want to know what happened there!

To be continued....
