ISSUE #32 - March, 2003
Back to ShowBiz Pizza.com Homepage

Hey everyone! Almost missed the month's end again. Believe it or not I had 2 new years resolutions and one of them was to update this site on a weekly basis. So much for that huh? Well maybe it's not too late to pick up the pieces and start fresh for the second quarter of 2003. We'll just call it a "late" resolution. How's that?

I'm sure that most of you have noticed the shameless plea for help on the homepage of www.showbizpizzapage.com. If you have some extra money burning a hole in your pocket, you might want to make a contribution. In a way you're helping this site as well by making a contribution as we share the same server for mp3 downloading. I know there's been problems with people not being able to get access all the time to the server, but that's due to the limited bandwidth that's allowed (again, another money issue). Nick does bring up some good points on the cost of running these sites - I estimate that this site in raw costs totals over $450/year not taking into consideration any time and labor hours. That may not seem like much for some of you, but remember that this money is given to provide a service to others and create a community that fans can enjoy.

So far I've been doing ok with the costs on this site (especially since everyone has been so generous in keeping the message board ad-free - thanks again!) but one day it may come down to having to get a sponser of some kind. I hope not, but I guess you never know.

Collectable Of The Month
Billy Bob Pewter Pendant

billy
  • Ahh, the coveted Billy Bob pewter pendant that's appeared twice now on eBay. From what I can tell it was something given to employees of ShowBiz in the early days.

Cool Picture
of the Month
Looney Joe

Looney Joe
  • Here's an interesting one... this is "Looney Joe", a character that Aaron Fechter would play at the now closed Looney Bird's in Orlando FL.

Another interesting thing I ran into this past month was an old half-bodied Pizza Time Theatre mech sitting in the window of a pawn shop here in town. My girlfriend was actually the one that found it so we went to check it out and sure enough that's what it was. Unfortunately the poor thing was worn down to the point of being almost total junk and they wanted $5000 for it. The employee there said that it came from an old Billy Bob robot. I was impressed enough by the fact that someone actually remembered Billy Bob by name that I didn't have the heart to argue with him.

And that's that folks! Still working on the sale page and I have more work ahead of me now that many people have managed to swipe stuff from me before I've gotten the chance to list it. Ah well, with any luck it will be running soon.

See you again soon!
