ISSUE #35 - June, 2003 Back to ShowBiz Pizza.com Homepage
Hello everyone. I hope that all is well and everyone is having a great summer! Things with me have been going good, I'm out of school now and playing the whole working game again. But I have been able to get out more and meet with everyone on the message board and chat room so that's been good. Hopefully last month's Bulletin wasn't too bitter, it really wasn't meant to be so, however I got a ton of concerned e-mails and calls after posting it. Sorry about that.

For those of you living in a cave, CEC has unveiled the biggest Ad-campaign in quite awhile. The new promotion at CEC's is more play for less money - all games are now 1 token to play and that includes the previously more expensive ones such as the sketchbook and photo ride. In addition to the cheaper games, the machines are now giving out more tickets which can be redeemed for new prizes.
The catch? Pizzas are getting smaller so you get less for your money, and Birthday prices are going up (if they haven't already). So it's most definetely a trade off. Personally I don't see how this is supposed to bring in more money. Many of the animatronic stage shows around the country are shotty because techs have to spend most of their time attending the game room where the majority of the money is made. I guess I can't see why CEC would cut back on it's most profitable area. The increased profits from the pizza and birthay sales don't seem as though they'd be enough to offset the money lost by the cheaper games. But who knows? CEC seems very confident about these new changes and is promoting it heavily. My local store even has banner-sized ads hanging from the front of the store that can be seen a block away.

Cool Picture of the Month |
More Fun Ad
- This isn't really a photo, but I wanted to show off the new Ad - click on the picture for a larger version.

| There's one thing that I have to say about the design of the More Fun Ad. It's hideous IMHO. For something this big and prominent you'd think it would "pop" out more than their usual ads and it doesn't. In fact it's more cluttered and ugly than normal. I've included a photo so you can decide if you agree or not.
In a seemingly unrelated story, CEC's Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer resigned on June 17th. According to the press release found on the official website he's leaving to do bigger and better things. No mention was made as to who his replacement was going to be.
Well that's it for this month, I'll be back soon and I want everyone to check back. Jasper came up with a great idea and we're pulling together and it should be really fun, and it's all happening next month!
