I know that I've been talking incessantly about new addtions being added to this website, and most of them have been slow coming. I've been under a much tighter time constraint than I had anticipated, but whenever the time becomes avilable I've been doing what I can. One of the major additions is an idea that I've been kicking around for a few years now, but seriously began production on over the past few months. This of course, is the ShowBiz Pizza.com Fan Club.

Why a Fan Club? Well, there's a few reasons. One of them is the complete lack of current collectables produced for older fans that fondly remember the restaurants of their childhoods. Anyone who frequents eBay looking for actual vintage collectables knows that they are quite rare and expensive and, in many cases, unnavailable to most fans. Hopefully our Fan Club will alleviate some of these issues.

Secondly, this is of course a fundraiser for this website. Over the past few years the cost of this website has been on a steady rise, both in terms of fixed expenses such as domain fees and webhosting fees, and also fees based of traffic and usage. My goal is to raise enough funds to help shoulder the cost of this site's opperation and no more than that.

Joining the club is not manditory, and no parts of this site are being "protected" as members-only sections. I want to keep this site available to everyone, as it has become an important informational archive.

Our Fan Club is Unofficial, of course, and as such the items contained in the membership are not vintage items. Most of them are in fact only related to this website and has never been produced before. However, you're contributing to a good cause, and helping to keep this website ad-free and open for everyone.

Besides the communal benefits of keeping this site avaiable to all, there are personal benefits as well. Fans joining the Fan Club will have the ability to upgrade their message board membership and be allowed more posting and viewing limits. The message board is something that everyone uses and because of that, the cost of a 6-month "eZboard Gold" membership was very expensive and would still be if limits weren't put into place. Now, with the Fan Club, fans can supercharge their account for the fair cost of $5 for an entire year, plus gain a membership card and a keychain which they can display proudly as a contributing member of ShowBiz Pizza.com!

As with everything in this site, the Fan Club is being offered over the next few months in a trial run. The amount of memberships will be carefully weighed against the yearly costs of this site. If everything goes smoothly, the club will continue in 2004 with new membership cards and new packages for a new year. Also if the Club works out decently, there's a lot of new additions we plan to make along the way.
