Fatz Dolls - ShowBiz Pizza Place

1981 - ShowBiz Pizza Place Inc.

1981 Fatz Doll
EST VALUE: $25-35

This is one of the first SPP Dolls. 9 inches tall. Comes in 2 peices: Doll body, and gold suit. Main charateristic is the suit material. The suit is made of a strong shiny material, that looks almost like diagonal stripes. The material looks as if it was sewn together in bands.

1981 Fatz Doll (Mint in Bag)
EST VALUE: $160-175

Extremely scarce. In ten years of collecting, this is the only one that I've ever seen. Original retail sticker has price of $6.99. Estimated value based on an eBay auction.

1982-1984 - Acme Co.

Acme Fatz Doll (Mint in Bag)
EST VALUE: $20-30 (Loose), $100-125

This is an example of the Acme version of Fatz. Material is very similar to that of the "A" type by the Oriental Trading Co (see below). Package is dated 1983 and has a price sticker of $9.00.

1984-1990 - Oriental Trading Co.

OTC Fatz Doll (Version A)
EST VALUE: $20-30

Early version of the OTC Fatz Doll (version A). 9 1/2 inches tall. Comes in 2 peices: Doll body, and gold suit. This doll is of better quality than the B versions. The gold suit is made of a fairly strong material, but is not quite as thick, and looks more consistant and flat. Bowtie is not as square as on the 81 versions.

OTC Fatz Doll (Version B)
EST VALUE: $20-35, $80-125 (MIB)

This is the later version of the OTC Fatz (version B). 9 1/2 inches tall. Comes in 2 peices: Doll body, and suit. It's made much more cheaply, and has the typical glue marks and bad sewing job. The biggest change in the material of the suit. It's made out of the cheap material that Dook's suit is composed of - which frays easily. The change in material causes the suit to appear more yellow than gold. Also the bowtie is made out a single peice of cut felt.
