The Strategy Section - Super Macho Man
Super Macho Man is an idle boxer. To improve your performance against him use the password code to begin at Macho.
Way to success is to learn to wait to the max for counter attack to get the stars. This is also known as the "delay routine".
Besides his two ways of Super Spin Punches Little
Mac just has to dodge and counter attack (with upper-cut if possible).
When Super Macho Man does not punch for a while
he prepares for his (minor) Spin Punch. Wait for his action and dodge in
time, then counter-attack.
When you knock him down he prepares for his major
Spin Punch. This is a good moment to gain some stars from him by penetrating
him with face jabs.
When he starts spin action dodge, dodge, dodge...just
in time (it is not that difficult but often people start panic and dodge
too fast - listen to the sound and stay in rhythm). When Macho finally
finishes his spin moves counter attack him with ten (or more if you are
fast...) face punches. The last one should be a star punch.
As Super Macho Man is the world champion of the
W.V.B.A. he is very strong. So Little Mac gets not up that often when he
is send down to the mat. But be aware that also when Little Mac twice gets
down after Macho`s major Spin Punch it is possible to finish him off in
Round 1.
The real Punch-Out!! fan should TKO Super Macho Man with full stamina before 2:00 R1!
As Super Macho Man is coming down to fight hold Up(^), continue to hold Up until he is just about down facing you and quickly makes a motion with his arms to his face(this indicates "hit me Mac"). Release Up and hit him immediately with a low left jab to the belly. Now Macho must throw a right swinging hook which you must dodge and counter with four straight high left jabs. Macho must now throw a left or right uppercut(a left or right swinging hook is also acceptable, however it is harder to receive a star with this type of punch), dodge this uppercut and time a perfect punch to get a star. Dodge his next punch which can either be a left or right uppercut or a right swinging hook(uppercut is always better though), then hit him in the face with a high left jab to stun him followed by the star uppercut. Dodge his next punch which should be a right uppercut, then time a perfect punch to get a star. Dodge his next punch which must be a left uppercut. Now hit him with a high left jab to stun him followed by the star uppercut. (Macho will now standstill preparing for his mini spin punch). Immediately after delivering the star punch, you must punch Macho with a high left jab to the face which he will block, now you must time a double high left jab combination which must hit Macho's face tiwce, he cannot block them in order for this strategy to work. The proper way of doing this is to press Up and B for one punch then let go of both buttons and press Up and B at the same time again for another punch. If Macho is blocking one of the two punches, it is because you are holding up all the way through. As soon as this combination has hit Macho, throw a high left jab which he will block, now repeat the same high left double jab combination as mentioned above to hit Macho's face twice. Now as soon as Macho has been hit in the face the second time hold UP(^), Macho will raise his guard, now let go of Up and give him a low left or right jab to the belly to get a star. All you have to do now is wait for Macho to throw his mini spin punch, the sooner the better. Now dodge his mini spin punch as it comes around, then use a high right jab followed by two high left jabs and immeditely a star uppercut to send Macho crashing to the canvas. Depending on when he began his mini spin punch he will go down from anytime between 0:46 and 0:50.
When he gets back up and comes down to fight look for him to drop his guard, now hit him immediately with a high left jab to the face to receive a star, now immediately follow this with two star uppercuts in a row(If Macho moves back before you can hit him with any stars, this indicates he is obviously not in the right fighting pattern, so you will have to reset the game). Now after he has been hit with two stars, he will move back to throw his series of super spin punches(the fewer he does the better). After you notice that he has thrown his last punch, quick dodge and then throw 8 high left jabs followed by a star punch. Macho will now still be standing with his guard down, so immediately punch him with a high left jab to send him down for a second time. This will occur between 1:01 and 1:05.
As he comes back down time a perfect high left jab to the face once he briefly drops his guard, you will receive a star. If you were not able to hit him and he blocked your punch you still have time to give him a high left jab that should connect. Now he must move back to start his super spin punches. Once you have dodged all of his spin punches, quick dodge and then give him 1 high left jab followed by 7 high right jabs and then immediately by a star uppercut. He will still be standing and once his guard is down you must punch him with a high left jab to receive a star, then you must use this star immediately to put Super Macho Man to bed between 1:17 and 1:21. This only works if Macho is planning to throw a right swinging hook, if he does an uppercut he will stop you in your tracks. Good luck everyone!!

Prologue:
Super Macho Man is the champion of WVBA and one
of the most difficult opponents to get a fast time on due to his multiple
patterns. Daniel Texiara discovered the fastest strategy back in September
of 2002 with a range from about 1:16-1:20 as the fastest times. Daniel
set the record at 1:16.61 which stood for over 8 months. Many people have
claimed to have gone under that time and times as low as 1:12.97 (claimed
by someone years ago) have been mentioned but no one has offered a strategy.
Back in May of this year I discovered something about Macho which lead
to a new world record of 1:13.82. Here is how I did it.....
Phase 1:
As soon as Mario starts the fight hold up on
the control pad to raise Macho's guard and give him a left gut jab. I will
call these gutters from now on. Now Macho will throw either an uppercut
or a hook. Hope for a hook and counter with 4 left face jabs. Now hope
Macho throws an uppercut. Dodge it and answer with a quick left or right
face jab and then wait just a tad and time a second face jab to produce
star #1. Dodge Macho's following uppercut or hook stun him with a face
jab and unload the star into his stunned face. Hope Macho continues with
another uppercut and wait just a tad and time a perfect punch to get star
#2. Dodge his following hook or uppercut and stun him with a face jab and
unload the star. Now hope Macho pauses as he will be preparing for his
mini spin punch. If macho continees to throw punches after unloading star
#2 you will have to reset as Macho is in the wrong pattern. The best pattern
is hook, uppercut, uppercut, uppercut, uppercut, pause. As soon as you
have finished unloading star #2 throw a left face jab at Macho which he
will block. As soon as Macho lowers his guard after blocking throw two
quick face jabs which Macho must not block. As soon as the second punch
lands throw another face jab which Macho will block and once again wait
for Macho to lower his guard and time another double jab combination to
Macho's face. As soon as Mac lands back on his feet hold up on the
control pad and execute a gutter. If you are really fast the clock should
be at about :39 as Mac finishes the gutter and you should have 3 stars
in reserve. As soon as Mac finshes the gutter immediately press start to
deliver an uppercut and hope that Macho starts his mini spin early. With
any luck you will see Macho flash for a brief second and then Mac's uppercut
will land. Note: This move is very hard to time as there is no way to tell
when Macho will go into the spin. On many tries Macho will just move out
of the way or knock Mac right out of the air with the spin. If Mac does
connect on the uppercut however Macho will be knocked down between 0:42
and 0:43 (nsm file shows :42). Mac should have 2 stars left. See nsm file
if you are having trouble with this.
Phase 2:
Macho will get up between 2 and 8. As soon as
Mario restarts the fight hold up and deliver a gutter using Mac's right
glove to obtain star #1 (25%). Do nto use Mac's left glove for this. Macho
does not always give this star and you will have to reset if he does not.
Mac should have 3 stars now. Now hope that Macho does not back up early
for his multiple spn punches but instead stays in front of Mac long enough
in order to get 2 stars off. So if Macho gives you star #1 immediately
press start to deliver a star which will hit him. Press start again to
deliver another star which will hit him. Macho will then back up and come
forward. Dodge just as you see Macho's fist coming toward Mac. Macho will
spin anywhere from 3-15 times. As soon as Macho has spun the last time
quick dodge and give Macho 7 left face jabs followed by a star uppercut.
Note: You must time the last dodge of the Macho spin correclty in order
to get Mac to speed counter Macho and in order for Macho not to dodge the
uppercut. If you did everthing right then Macho will be down to a small
sliver of energy. After the star uppercut has landed wait for Macho to
momentarily lower his guaurd. Take advantage of this opportunity by timing
a left face jab to Macho's face to send him down for the second time between
0:57 and 0:59. Mac should have 0 stars left.
Phase 3:
Phase 2 is exacly the same as Daniel T's original
strat (see above). If macho gives you a good pattern in phase 3 you should
be able to tko him between 1:12 and 1:16. If you mangage to pull this off
you defintitely are one of the best MTPO/PO players in the world. My best
time and current world record is 1:13.82 but I have gotten 1:12.97 using
savestates on an emulator. Will you be the one to get the 1:12.97 on the
actual NES? Patience and perfect timing are the keys to executing this
strategy efficiently.
Dedication:
I would like to dedicate this strategy to Daniel
T who set an initial outstanding time (1:16.61) and who wrote a great strategy
for it. Also credit goes to RedTom and Jack Wedge for suggesting that the
Macho time could be lower. Remember this strategy is extremely difficult
to execute so be patient and remember practice makes perfect. Use the password
267-853-7538 to go to Macho and practice. Well good luck and have fun playing
MTPO/PO.
TKO Super Macho Man on MTPO-PAL in 1:09.25,R1
re-mastered and improved for PAL by RedTom
Prologue:
PAL is different and I do not want to go in detail
here, so just use this strategy when you have the European 50hz NES and
want to TKO Super Macho Man the fastest known way. If you have the NTSC
version then feel free to pick certain elements out of this strategy for
developping a faster NTSC strategy.
Phase 1:
Welcome SMM with a right gutter (always use right
glove for SMM gutters, they do more damage!), then dodge his next punch
which most likely is a right hook, sometimes a right uppercut. Answer with
three left face jabs and a delayed fourth one that must produce a star.
Note that getting this sort of stars out of hooks is more difficult than
out of uppercuts due to harder timing but it is possible and esssential.
When the delay timing is correct then you get a star for 100%. Also
beware that by delaying the 4th jab for star you give SMM more damage than
by answering with 4 (or 6 for uppercut) odd counter punches.
Anyway, get that star #1 and then dodge his next
punch and give him one fast counter face punch (always with the proper
hand, see Tyson strat!!) folllowed by a delayed one for star #2 (and maximal
damage). Repeat this routine of one fast and a second delayed face jab
once again to get star no #3. Then dodge his next punch, stun him with
a fast face jab and hit START to deliver your first star uppercut. Then
wait for SMM next punch, which must be a left uppercut. Dodge, stun and
deliver your second star uppercut. Now hope that SMM pauses to prepare
for his Mini Spin Punch. This is the standard pattern but if he refuses
to pause and continues with hooks and uppercuts, you have to reset. Note
that SMM will only get in his Mini Spin Punch pattern when his 5th punch
was a left uppercut.
Anyway, when SMM pauses for his Mini Spin Punch
preparation, immediately start punching him with (right!) gutters (Note:
The NTSC doorknock-double jab routine does not work for PAL). If you did
everything correctly, then SMM will fall when the 5th gutter connects.
If you failed with one of the 3 initial delayed punches, then you have
to try to land a 6th gutter or a perfectly timed star uppercut when he
flashes for his Mini Spin Punch that sends him down before he starts his
Mini Spin Punch. So better get the 3 delayed ones or be fast with the gutters...
When everything works perfectly then SMM will
be down at 0:40 (up to 0:43 with the 6th gutter) and Mac will have 3 stars
left (as the gutters produce plenty of stars). Read
Macho Madness below for easier Phase 1 by using the Crisscross Crusher.
Phase 2:
When Macho comes back for the fight you have
to deliver 3 gutters before he goes into his Main Spin Punch action to
cause enough damage for the next knock-down. Note:
I noticed that only having time to execute one single gutter is faster
(Ph2-pattern: gutter,Star Sucker, get star,deliver star, dodge, 3+1 delayed
for 0:58) Hope that Macho gives you enough
time to perform them. If not, you have to reset. The first gutter is hard
to execute, as SMM first refuses to drop-raise his guard properly. I prefer
to press down to block when Macho comes back to fight for just a second,
then press up to raise his guard properly to perform the first of the 3
gutters.
Anyway, after the 3rd gutter Macho will spin
around. Dodge all his efforts and now to the tricky part: You have to guess
or react very fast: Immediately hit START after SMM last spin and deliver
a fast star uppercut on SMM that he will accept (=the so called Spin Sucker).
Do not wait or else he will not accept that star uppercut but dodge. Not
easy at all to perform but possible.
After the star connected, Macho is kind of confused.
Wait a tad of a second and SMM will lower his guard. Take advance of this
moment and jab his face with a left face punch to get the 3rd star again.
Now hope that Macho will throw another hook (if he performes an uppercut
then Mac will get seriously injured...ouch) and press START immediately
after you got the 3rd star and the star uppercut will connect. If your
timing was excellent and you did maximum damage with your Phase 2 stars,
then SMM will have only a minimum bar of energy left now. Dodge and give
him one or two more punches. Be sure to finish him with a delayed one for
maximum damage. Clock will show 1:02 or even less.
(0:59 for me at the 1:09.25 record by Spin
Sucker, lowered guard star, dodged hook, 3+1delayed face jabs, 0:58 possible!,
faster than Macho Madness !?)
Mac has 2 stars left.
Phase 3:
For the final round welcome Macho with pressed
START button and deliver immediately your two remaining stars on him. Hope
that he will stay long enough to accept them and does not go into his Main
Spin Punch action too early.(Funny enough that now SMM accepts those stars
while on NTSC he accepts them in Phase 2)
Anyway, right after the second star has connected,
press up and do another quick gutter which will produce your final star
before you led SMM go to begin his Spin Punches.
Dodge his Spin Punches and deliver the star (the
Spin Sucker) right into SMM when he just finished his last spin. Once again
the timing for this is very hard. But if you get it and execute the Spin
Sucker fast, then SMM will immediately go to the mat for TKO. If you did
not enough damage to him yet due to too slow timing, then again give him
another left face jab when he lowers his guard. This should do the rest.
Clock showed 1:09.25 for me. It was nearly a perfect
run (97%). I stayed flawless and kept all my 15 hearts! In Phase 2 I was
only able to execute 2 gutters before he got into his Spin Punches, so
I had to give him the 3+1 delayed punches at the end of phase 2. The MTPO-PAL
record could still be improved slightly therefore, I think.
Dedication:
I want to dedicate this piece of writing to DanielT
for his initial SMM strategy and to Matt for the fastest NTSC SMM strategy.
Also I want to dedicate this strategy to the
people who refused to agree to one global TV standard..grrrrrr....50hz...60hz...
Macho Madness
Written and Invented by Matt Turk and RedTom
TKO SMM between 1:10 and 1:14 using this strategy
Tested on MTPO (NTSC) and PO (NTSC)
Prologue:
RedTom came up with the fastest strategy to beat
Super Macho Man on PAL entitled Schwartanegger's Revenge. I have modified
things a little bit and come up with a good strategy for NTSC. I set the
record of 1:10.00 using it. Here is how I did it...........
Phase 1:
This is exactly the same as RedTom's phase 1
on Schwartzaneger's Revenge. Note: I found an easier way to get star #1
in his strategy though. On Macho's first hook to start the fight give him
3 face jabs and a delayed right body blow (= Crisscross Crusher
) to get star #1 intstead of a delayed face jab. I have found that the
delayed right body blow is much easier to time.
Phase 2:
Macho will get up between 2 and 8. As soon as
Macho comes back into the fight hold up on the control pad to raise his
guard (sometimes macho raises his guard prematurely) and give him a right
gut shot. Now hope that Macho stays in fron of Mac long enough to execute
2 more gutters. You will have to reset if he backs up too quickly. So macho
will go into his major spin pattern and Mac must time a perfect star uppercut
into the back of Macho's neck as soon as he finishes the last spin. This
move is called "The Spin Sucker and was invented by RedTom. This move is
extremely hard to time and it is impossible to preidict when Macho will
stop will stop spinning. What I usually do is 2 regular dodges on Macho's
first 2 spins and then I quick dodge the third and let go of an uppercut
and hope Macho stops. If you timed this right then it should take about
1/3 of Macho's power away (see nsm file to see how to execute Spin Sucker
the proper way). Macho will appear to be confused and wait for him to lower
his guard and time a perfect punch to get a star. Then dodge Macho's following
hook and stun him with a left and unload and uppercut and it will hit him
(100% everytime) and he will go down between 0:59 and 1:02. Mac should
have 2 stars left.
Phase 3:
As soon as Macho comes back into the fight press
Start to deliver an uppercut which Macho will take (100%). Press Start
again to deliver another uppercut which Macho will also take (100%). Note:
Macho must stay in front of Mac long enough to get these 2 stars off. As
soon as the second uppercut has landed hold up and execute a gutter to
produce a star just before Macho backs up. In order to finish Macho off
you need to land another Spin Sucker out of his Macho spin pattern. In
other words time a perfect uppercut into the back of Macho's neck right
as he finishes his last spin to tko him between 1:10 and 1:14. If you do
not time the move right then he will not go down so then dodge Macho's
next uppercut or hook and give him 4 face jabs for tko between 1:15 and
1:17.
Well you are now the champion of the WVBA. How does it feel? You are a Macho master. My best time and current world record is 1:10.00 (NTSC) and RedTon has hit 1:09.25 (PAL) using a similar strategy. Can you beat those times?
Dedication:
RedTom's Schwartzanegger's Revenge and a desire
to go under 1:13 on Macho inspired me to look for a faster NTSC strategy.
Also credit to Daniel T for coming up with an intial outanding strategy.
Patience and perfect timing are the necessary ingredients to get this strategy
to work. Good luck.
Try out the phase 2 strat on PAL Tom. You should be able to finish Macho in 1:07 or less.
the world's first sub 1:00 strategy for Super
Macho Man
developed solely for Punch-Out!! feat. Mr.
Dream, PAL-Version
Preludium:
This ultra fast strategy enables you to perform
a sub 1:00 TKO over Super Macho Man. It does only work for the PO-PAL
version. It will not work for any NTSC or MTPO-PAL version due to timing
differences. Feel free to pick some elemtents out for further strategies.
Each punch is wisely set to max out damage and knock downs. Get familiar
with proper hand punches, delaying routine, crisscross crushers and star
suckers first. Read strategies above to learn more about these techniques.
Phase 1:
Your goal of phase 1 is to knock-down Super Macho
Man at 0:32 with 2 stars and all 15 hearts remaining. To do so, welcome
SMM with a right gutter, then fast-dodge and counter his next 3 punches.
Do one fast and one delayed punch to answer those 3 punches. You will get
3 stars out of that. Always use proper hand. Use delay for each 2nd uppercut
answers and criss-crosser crushers for each 2nd hook answerings. Mac has
3 stars now.
Hope for SMM to perform right uppercut next,
otherwise RESET as he won't go into Mini Spin Punch pattern then. Quick
dodge that uppercut and answer with two left face jabs followed by STAR
uppercut delivery no.1. Quick dodge next uppercut attempt (which now should
be a left one) and deliver one fast right face jab followed by star no.2.
After star no.2 connects, immediately start right gutters (while he prepares
his Mini Spin Punch attempt). Gutter no.1 should produce a star, gutter
no.2 will send SMM down as fast as 0:32. Mac has 2 stars, 15 hearts remaining.
(If Macho does not go into Mini Spin Punch pattern Mac can only deliver one fast gutter, then dodge next punch and give him one fast face jab to send him down at 0:34.)
Phase 2:
Welcome SMM back with right gutters while he
prepares for Super Spin Punches. Depending on Machos pattern Mac can perform
one or three right-handed gutters (both patterns do fine as long as Mac
has 3 stars remaining when Macho goes into Super Spin Punch, so the one
gutter only pattern has to produce a star, the 3 gutters pattern has to
produce at least one star). Anyway anticipate last Spin Punch and deliver
one fast right face jab followed by STAR uppercut delivery (=Extended Spin
Sucker). Right after uppercut star punch connected get star by quick left
face jab into Macho's astonished face when his guard is down for a moment.
case a)
If Macho did the 3 gutters pattern then press
start button immediately now (after you got that guard down star) to deliver
star to send him down or
case b)
if he did the one gutter pattern then quick dodge
Machos next punch (after you got that guard down star), stun with a fast
proper face jab followed by STAR uppercut to send him down. Both patterns
can be done as fast as 0:47 with 2 stars and 15 hearts remaining.
Phase 3:
Deliver both remaining stars into his Super Spin
Punch preparations (hope he accepts them both, otherwise RESET, take your
time to deliver them. Forcing them effects faster Spin Punch starting!),
after the second one connected, do another right gutter to get your final
star, then dodge the Super Spin Punches and anticipate the final spin to
ultra-fast deliver the final star unstunned (classic Spin Sucker) to send
Macho down at 0:57 for TKO.
Conclusion:
Record attempt was one gutter case b pattern.
I got 0:57.97 R1 TKO, the world's first reported sub 1:00 TKO over Super
Macho Man. Executing that strat on other versions will fail as punches
do not enough damage to send him down. You can execute that strategy only
with the PO-PAL cartridge (even on an universal NTSC NES console!).
The strategy is not that hard to perform. Macho
will cooperate 60pct in phase 1 and 50-60 pct in phase 3. Hardest thing
is to anticipate the final Super Spin Punch for executing the (Extended)
Spin Sucker of phase 2 and 3. Good luck.
Box Office Flop
The most noble way to beat Macho fast without
using the clock stop glitch
-Intorducing the Wild Wooley-
Written and Invented by Matt Turk
TKO Super Macho Man from 1:03-1:06 using this
strategy
Tested on NESTICLE Emulator and MTPO (NTSC)
Prologue- SMM is one of the toughest oppenents in PO and MTPO. The programmers made him tough since he is the last opponent Mac has to overcome in order to get the Dream Fight with Tyson/Dream. In fact in the Famiacom version of the game Macho is the final boss. Red Tom came up with a fast PAL strategy entitled "Scahwatazanegger's Revenge which gets him for TKO at 1:09. Matt Turk modified that strategy to work for NTSC with a strategy entitled "Macho Madness". In January 2004 Macho even became the victim of a serious glitch discovered by Matt Turk which made possible a sub 1:00 victory on him. Poor Macho. The following is the story of how I discovered a strategy that pushes Macho to the edge of 1:00 on NTSC without taking advantage of any glitches.........
Phase 1- As soon as Mario starts the fight await Macho with the control pad pressed UP and deliver one right gutter. Macho will now attempt a right hook or a right uppercut. If Macho throws a hook Mac must reataliate with a Criss Cross Crusher (see Schwartzanegger's Revenge above). If Macho throws an uppercut Mac must respond with a 3+1 delayed combination (use proper hand) to Macho's head to obtain star # 1. Dodge Macho's following star uppercut attempt and answer with one face jab. After Mac lands this face jab Macho's face will be stunned for about 2 seconds. Wait these 2 seconds and press START to deliver star uppercut # 1 which should time right into Macho's following hook attempt for maximum damage. Note: This face jab delayed star upercut is called a Wild Wooley. If Macho throws an uppercut after the intitial face jab to stun him he will spoil the Wild Wooley attempt and you will have to reset (see nsm file to see how to do this properly). Dodge Macho's following uppercut attempt and answer with a 1+1 delayed face combo (use proper hand) for star # 2. Again dodge his subsequent uppercut attempt and answer with 1 face jab (use proper hand) followed by a star uppercut # 2. Macho will now prepare for his mini spin punch. Take this opportunity to execute 3 Dizzy Destroyer patterns in a row (see my Honda 2 "Blinded Barrage" strategy to to understand how to execute one of these). A total of 6 punches should hit Macho some of these will yield stars and others will not. As soon as Mac lands back on his feet after the third "Dizzy Destroyer" execute one more quick RIGHT gutter to send him down from 0:36-0:38. Mac should have 3 stars in reserve for phase 2. The pattern of punches for Macho to perform in phase 1 is therefore 1. Hook/uppercut 2. Uppercut 3. Must be hook 4. Uppercut. 5. Uppercut 6. Pause for mini spin.
Phase 2- Macho will get up between a 2 and 8 count. As soon as Macho comes back into the fight execute 3 consecutive RIGHT gutters. Note: Macho must stay in front of Mac long enough to execute all 3 of these. Note: Mac should get 2 or 3 stars out of these gutters. If he backs up too early you will have to perform phase 2 of Schwartzanegger's revenge (see above). After the third gutter has landed Macho will back up and prepare for his major spin punch. Macho will spin from 3-14 times. Mac must anticipate when Macho will stop spinning and execute a Spin Sucker (star uppercut) into the back of Macho's head on the last spin for maximum damage. Note: The best way to time the spin sucker is to wait until you hear the noise for Macho's last spin and to dodge extremely late on each individual spin. Immediately after the Spin Sucker has landed wait until Macho lowers his guard and time a perfect punch to his face for a star (he will not block ot if you are fast enough). Immeditaly use this star once Mac gets it and hope Macho attempts a hook as the star uppercut will land right into it for maximum damage. Macho will now be down to one small sliver of energy remaining so wait just a tad after the preceding star uppercut has landed and time a single face jab which should get through Macho's guard and knock him down the second time. Note: Macho tends to block this punch the first few times Mac tries it but once you get the timing down the punch almost always lands (see nsm file to see how to do it). The clock should read 0:52-0:54 for the second knockdown and Mac should have 2 stars in reserve for phase 3.
Phase 3- Phase
3 is exactly the same as Schwartzanegger's Revenge and Macho Madness (see
above). If all goes well you should be able to TKO him from 1:03-1:06 (nsm
file shows 1:04).
Well there you have it. You destroyed Macho close to 1:00 without using any glitches or cheat features. Consider yourself a MTPO pro. I obtained a time of 1:04.00 on NTSC using this strategy. I got a time of 1:03.25 using savestates on NESTICLE emulator so the time can still be improved. These times occurred before I discovered the major glitch on Macho that lowered the time all the way down to 41.97 which is recognized as the world record. However many MTPO fans may not like the use of gliches to get records to here is your chance to annihilate Macho fair and square.
Let it be a word of warning that this strategy is extremely difficult to perform properly. In phase 1 there is only 1 pattern of Macho's that is correct where the Wild Wooley will work. You also have to be good at the Spin Sucker to get this strategy to work at all. I believe that this is the fastest, non glitch strategy that will ever be invented for Macho guys so enjoy it. I put quite a bit of time into discovering this strategy so I only hope that a few players give it an honest attempt. With a little practice an experienced player should be able to get this to work. So get ready to lace your gloves up and show Macho that he is a true "Box Office Flop". Don't forget to download the nsm file if you need help. Also congratulations you are the new WVBA champion.

The quest for Little Mac to defeat Super Macho Man under 1:00 has been
one of the holy grails of MTPO for over 15 years. Due to the fact that
Macho gives up many stars and is subject to many different punch combinations
by Little Mac many players thought it to be possible and many came close
but all seemed to fall short of the 1:00 mark. There was one missing ingredient
however that was overlooked all of those years. The following is the story
of how I TKOed Super Macho Man under 1:00 by exploiting a major glitch............
Phase 1- As
soon as Mario starts the fight the first punch Macho will attempt will
be a right hook. As soon as you see Macho cock his arm back deliver to
right to the body which he will block to stop the hook from coming Mac's
way. Note: Macho can also begin with an uppercut but the right interception
will also stop that. Also do not use Mac's left hand on this interception
as it will not stop the hook. Now you have to hope that Macho throws 4
consecutive uppercuts. Stop all of those from coming Mac's direction by
using a left body blow just as Macho begins to bend for each uppercut.
Macho will block all of these punches too. After the fourth uppercut has
been stopped Macho will pause for this mini spin punch. Make sure to hold
up on the control pad during this time to force Macho to spin the fastest.
So dodge Macho's mini spin punch and answer with a 2+1 delayed speedy combination
to Macho's head. The last dalayed punch may be blocked or produce a star
depending on how well you time it. Note: a 1+1 delayed speedy can also
be used in this situation but it is much harder to time. If you notice
the delayed speedy punch will freeze the clock dead in its tracks (aka
the Dead Freeze Punch) and it will not move. Once the clock has stopped
Mac can only do one punch at a time to keep the clock frozen. I recommend
late punches on Macho's uppercuts and gutters to the body (see nsm to see
how I do it). If Mac tries any multiple punch combinations or star attempts
which Macho might dodge the clock will move again. These are also known
as the Rules of Engagement and can be found in the "Punch Drunk" Soda Popinski
strategy. So keep doing single punches until Macho falls for the first
knockdown. Clock should read 0:22-0:24 (nsm file shows 0:24) for the first
knockdown.
Phase 2- Macho will get up between a 2 and 8 count. As soon as he comes back into the fight do absolutely nothing. The reason for this is because if you try to hit him you will delay him from backing up. So hope that Macho backs up quickly for his big spin routine. He will spin from 3-14 times so be sure not to make any errant dodges. Listen for the cool sound effect on his last spin and dodge slightly later and answer with a 2+1 delayed speedy (Dead Freeze Punch) to stop the clock again. Once again "The Rules of Engagement are the same. You should be able to get the second knockdwown from 0:32-0:38 depending on how fast he backs up (nsm file shows 0:34 second knockdown).
Phase 3- Repeat procedure of phase 2 for the third and final knockdown. The clock should read anywhere from 0:41-0:50 for the third and final knockdown (nsm file shows 0:44).
Well you did it. Now you can say you you TKOed the Hollywood movie star in less than 1:00 and thoroughly humiliated him in the process. I got the world record of 41.97 using this strategy. Can you beat that?
Dedication- I would like to dedicate this strategy to Daniel T and Tom Roth for both coming up with original Super Macho Man strategies in the quest to push him toward 1:00 of round 1.
I actually discovered the clock stop strategy on my own quest to try and come up with a strategy to beat Macho under 1:00 of R1. This strategy is not solely for MTPO experts to perform. It can be done quite readily by an average player as well. Just remember it is not how many punches you land against him which determines your time but rather how fast you can stop the clock in each phase. I suggest using the code 267 853 7538 to go to Macho and practice a little. Once you get the timing down for stopping the clock this strategy is a piece of cake. Don't forget to download the file if you need help. Take care and good luck.
