The classic Village People song is once again a Chuck E. Cheese's live show, and this version is very well done! The music is techno-like, and the character actors did a great job singing this song. This is one of those songs that you would expect to be a good live show, and CEC Entertainment did a great job with it! YMCA was a live show for CEC in 1994 (and reissued in 1998). This version is a remake with the current voice actors. The video footage switches between "Chuck E Live" and "YMCA" text. YMCA 2003 is valid with the April 2003 Show, and with Summertime 2003. This is the first time where a live has an extended run than usual 'real song' Live Shows have.
It's a no brainer that this classic dance song would make a great live show, and this remake is very well done. The generic video footage helps keep the focus on the dancing cast members, and the techno-like music fits perfectly with this song. It's a little long, but it's a classic. The only thing I would have liked to see in this live would be the puppets in the Studio C version (like what was done for "Locomotion"...the live with the September 2002 Show). I think it's a great idea to have the characters on screen, and it would have worked well with this version of YMCA. But other than that, YMCA 2003 is a great, fun live!
