Don't let the new show logo fool you, this is the same Summer Show from 2004 with minor new intermission additions. This includes four short Super Chuck Summer VJ Spots, a patriotic intermission dedicated to our military, and two slightly new 2005 Cinemark promos. Other than that, everything is exactly the same, from the show segments to the episodes of Baking With Betty and Super Jasper, to the tedious 7 Minute Countdowns. The only thing missing from last year's version is the Kool Aid Promo from Intermission 2.

Please note that the above show schedule is the Studio C version. The Existing Stages version's line-up is slightly shifted around, and is listed below in the Secrets section. Because of the way it is represented in the Studio C version, I listed "America" as a song segment instead of a stand alone song. It's right after a Countdown, and has an entire intermission afterwards.

Anyway, for more information about the segments and intermissions of the Summer 2005 Show, check out the Summertime 2003 Showtape Review & the Summertime 2004 Showtape Review.

Existing Stages - The intermission line-up is slightly different from the Studio C version. Here is the list of intermissions:

Intermission 1 - Military Montage / Super Chuck Summer VJ Spot 1 / Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse Promo 1 / Wildlife / Coke Groove 1 / 7 Minute Countdown

Intermission 2 - Super Chuck Summer VJ Spot 2 / Baking With Betty / 7 Minute Countdown

Intermission 3 - Super Chuck Summer VJ Spot 3 / Super Jasper / Coke Groove 2 / 7 Minute Countdown

Intermission 4 - Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse Promo 2 / Super Chuck Summer VJ Spot 4 / Carl & Phil Monkey Ninjas: Episode 1 / 7 Minute Countdown / "America"

Super Chuck Summer VJ Spots - Two kid superheroes, Bookworm & Roverboy, promote the Super Chuck Summer campaign in this year's VJ Spots, replacing last year's Summer Of Fun ones.

Military Montage - The only real intermission addition to this year's Summer Show is a short music intermission tribute to our soldiers fighting the war. The stock footage has been provided by the government, and the instrumental music is "American The Beautiful". In a way, this is similar to the NASA Footage intermission from the April 2005 Show.

Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse Promos - These short promos (just like last year) is for Cinemark Theatre's summer movie program for kids, sponsored this year by Minute Maid.

Birthday Break - The Birthday Break music & video is the same from the April 2005 Show.

Summer 2005 Show Logo - Replacing our favorite fat guy on a lawnmower, this show features a brand new show logo to tie-in with the Super Chuck Summer campaign. The logo starts out with the "Chuck E Gazette" newspaper reporting that a bank has been robbed. The police chase the robber through the streets. The Super Chuck signal goes off, and Super Chuck comes to the rescue, putting the robber behind bars. Then Super Chuck stands on the building (a la Batman) with a billboard blinking "CEC TV".

-3 out of 5 Tokens-

Well here we are on the third year of this Summer Show version, and nothing really new and interesting is introduced to keep me coming back for more. Watching this show definitely gives me the "third year syndrome" I feel with most summer and holiday shows that run for an extended period of time. Granted, the show logo is awesome with the Super Chuck Summer theme, and the Military Montage is a nice patriotic addition (although I feel it's out of place in a CEC kids show)...but other than that there isn't anything else that enhances this played-out show. And why call it the "Super Chuck Summer Show"? There isn't anything superhero nor Super Chuck related (other than the show logo & those pointless VJ Spots) at all. This is just "Summertime" with a name change.

A new intermission line-up would have been cool...even if it was all recycled stuff. Having the line-up be similar to the last couple of shows with a bunch of short pieces instead of one long 7 Minute Countdown would have been great. Imagine how nice it would be having the songs from Summertime 2001 be the actual countdowns, and different episodes of Baking With Betty, CPMN, & Super Jasper be in this year's version. Or why not reintroduce The Tube Explorer series? There are many options in Department 18's archives, and having barely anything new makes this show a disappointment.

Hopefully this will be the last year for this Summer Show. Don't get me wrong, I really do enjoy the song segments and a few of the intermissions, it's just that if you work at or visit CEC on a regular basis, it gets rather boring hearing the same songs and seeing the same intermissions for yet another year. Oh well, have a Super Chuck Summer!
